Singer, songwriter, producer and instrumentalist Nick La’a started performing on stage at the age of 5, training as a musician while learning the Hawaiian culture through mele and performance expanding to genres like musical theater, jazz, rock, R&B and pop music.

Kupu Dalire-Na’auao, from Kane’ohe O’ahu is a Hawaiian Island Reggae solo artist. He began playing music at the age of 3. He also performed at many big venues in Hawai’i and travelled all over the world as a musician. Already a two-time Na Hoku Hanohano award winner with his former group Hu’ewa (2015 Most Promising Artist of the year, & 2015 Group of the Year), Kupu showcases his understanding of Hawaiian culture and language through his songs. Kupu is the son of Kumu Hula Kau’i Dalire and Na Hoku Hanohano award winner and Island music icon, Sean Na’auao. They both provide him with a solid foundation from his debut solo album released in 2019, entitled “Chasing Legacy”.

The Kahala invites all children (ages 5 and up) to spend the afternoon creating ocean-inspired art while learning about environmental stewardship. Both guests and the kamaʻāina are welcomed to engage and learn about Hawai‘i’s natural resources through the creation. We have all the supplies that keiki need to flex their creative muscles and create one-of-a-kind masterpieces to take home.
Due to limited availability, reservations are required by 3pm on the day of program (no walk-ins). Parent/gurdian’s presence required.

Join us on this Hawaiian craft workshop to create your own kapa bookmark. “Ohe Kapala” is a piece of bamboo carved for printing “tapa” which is a bark cloth that has been softened through a process of soaking and beating.
