Hala weaving is a traditional practice to make items such as baskets, hats and mats from leaves of Hala trees. Watch Keoua Nelsen expertly weave together leaves. Keoua Nelson is from Kona and comes from a long line of lauhala weavers.

Brad Kawakami is a multiple Na Hoku Hanohano Award Recipient with a group called PALI. In the late 1990’s, after discovering the same musicality as his family, Brad began his music career. He founded Kalakoa, a local contemporary band, and Sam’s Garage, a local alternative rock band. Brad then joined Backyard Paā€˜ina, a local band who performed at venues all over the island of Oahu. Deciding to focus on his career in graphics, Brad left the music industry in 2006, but was drawn back in early 2007 joining the award winning band, PALI.

In late 2010, Brad left the PALI band to pursue a solo career and in 2011 released ā€œI Found My Love In Waikikiā€ single and was one of the Finalist in the 2011 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards for Single of the Year.
